The purpose of this topic is to store small tidbits of information that can't be sorted into any of the other subforums, either because they won't fit into any or because they're too small to warrant a topic of their own. It's also to try and improve consistency with details on the site. These details may or may not be inconsequential, depending on what they are and whether or not they're relevant and used to/in the RP. If you have something you would like to add here, PM an LD member, ask them to confirm it and then they will add it here for you. As this topic gets larger, it will be sorted into categories.
General Information:
It's spelt "Bethrezen", guys. Only one "r". Not "Brethrezren".
The Union automatically classifies personal information on the members of the New Sith Brotherhood for security reasons, including real names.
The Second (Hunter/Killer) Escort Group, whilst officially an Escort Group, only broadly fits the definition in that it "escorts" convoys and craft by hunting down pirates and commerce raiders to prevent them from harassing convoys rather than protecting the convoys in person.
Popular Misconceptions about the Obsidan Union and the New Sith Brotherhood:
Misconception: The New Sith Brotherhood is named after the Brotherhood of Darkness.
Actuality: False. Exar Kun’s Brotherhood of the Sith (often called the ‘Sith Brotherhood’) is the New Brotherhood’s namesake. It was chosen out of philosophical sympathy with the chief of Kun’s goals: restoring of the Golden Age of the Sith.
Misconception: There are no laws in the Union restricting weapons sales, narcotics, gambling or any other so-called ‘vice’ laws.
Actuality: Somewhat true but not the whole story. While the Union’s federal government does not regulate these fields, member planets and states are free to legislate on these matters as they see fit. Almost all planets tolerate ‘personal use’ quantities of items that are legal in other parts of the Union and content themselves with keeping distributors out of their jurisdiction. The person who brings the pounds of Spice he bought legally in Hutt space into the Chiss Ascendancy is in for a rude awakening.
Misconception: As long as pirates and smugglers don’t cause any damage to the Union then the Union leaves them alone.
Actuality: False. In order to operate out of Union territory a pirate crew or smuggling operation must belong to the Brotherhood of Independent Traders. Only if the Union profits directly from privateering in the form of a percentage of the spoils will it tolerate such actions. And the only way a crew can assure the Union that it’s getting its share is by joining the BoIT (or, alternative, having the patronage of a Hutt). In fact, the Union takes an even tougher stance on unregistered pirates than is displayed in GA space.
Misconception: All Houses of the NSB are located on New Bethrezen.
Actuality: Of the current Houses, only House Xaos resides on New Bethrezen. House Mystique is the closest, being located on a terraformed moon of the gas giant New Bethrezen orbits. Next nearest is House Maiesta, residing inside a mobile fortress on Ziost. Furthest away (but still not that far of a journey) is House Mortuorios inside a spacestation in low orbit above Yavin Prime.
P.S. What’s the origin of the House system anyway?
Answer: It’s based on the nine noble Houses of the Tapani sector. Several of these Houses were key supporters of Exar Kun and Darth Revan. The system was designed by a player (and, in fanon, his character) known as Darth Mortis.
Quotes:
“The enemy advances, we retreat. The enemy camps, we harass. The enemy tires, we attack. The enemy retreats, we pursue.” – General Peor Tharak of the Umbaran planetary militia explaining his people’s strategic doctrine.
On past missions:
The missions "IN-549" and "Oh My God Everything Is On Fire" were the start of an aborted story arc, and as a result of the abortion contain many unanswered questions about the origins of the Sith artifacts the missions involved and the creature encountered in the latter mission. What follows is a rough explanation of the backstory and missions, and how they fit together:

The missions "IN-549" and "Oh My God Everything Is On Fire" were the start of an aborted story arc, and as a result of the abortion contain many unanswered questions about the origins of the Sith artifacts the missions involved and the creature encountered in the latter mission. What follows is a rough explanation of the backstory and missions, and how they fit together:
The artifacts were discovered on the colony of IN-549 by the colonists, who informed the Union. Lady Vidia swiftly took notice and suppressed the information, sending her own soldiers to recover them. In an attempt to keep them secret, only one artifact was taken from the Sith Temple where it was discovered; its twin was left behind. In the process they discovered the artifact's guardian, an alchemically-created beast, and succeeded in subduing it. To study the unknown artifact and its guardian, Lady Vidia had a secret research facility constructed on the fringes of the galaxy and informed no-one, making only scant, unimportant mentions of the facility to cover it up. Following her death, her scientists continued their work, and accidentally activated the artifact which drove them insane and allowed for the creature's escape. Unknown to the scientists, the artifacts were paired, and when the artifact aboard the station was activated its twin on IN-549 was also activated, slowly eroding the colonists' minds from a great distance away. The artifact aboard the research station was destroyed when the facility was set to blow during an investigation by Darths Drakonis and Arbiter, and its guardian was killed by the pair. Though study of the creature's remains was attempted, Union scientists were only able to ascertain its alchemical nature before its bones disintegrated after several days. The station and all of its scientists were lost.
The colony on IN-549 was saved as the result of intervention by Darth Exolus and a small Jedi team lead by Kyle Katarn, sent by the Ossus Academy to investigate the disturbance in the Force caused by the artifact. Teaming up, the two were able fight through the warped colonists to the Temple and deactivate the artifact, restoring the colonists' minds. The Temple (and artifact along with it) was destroyed by an air strike by Darth Exolus' ship, and the strike team was allowed to leave unhindered.
The true nature of the artifacts was never discerned, and their effects were only lightly discerned. The artifacts, believed to be Sith in origin and dating back at least ten thousand years, eroded the minds of those around them and caused them to believe it was an object of worship, offering blood sacrifices to it and spending their time praying to it. The artifacts became the sole focus of their lives, and they fought to the death to defend it. No ill effects have since been detected with the colonists of IN-549, though all of the colonists retain no memories of the artifact whatsoever.
