1. To train an apprentice, you must hold at least the rank of Sith Tyro. Sith Tyros may teach all apprentices between levels 1 and 4. Sith Knights and Masters may teach any apprentice regardless of level.
2. To train an apprentice in a Skill, Force Power, or Combat Proficiency, your base rank in that skill must be at least 1. Ie. A rank of 0 + 1 due to bonuses does not qualify you to teach it.
3. The maximum rank you may train an apprentice to depends on your rank in the ability in question:
ii. Above rank 1, the maximum level you may train an apprentice to is equal to your rank in the ability in question (including any bonuses), minus 1.
iii. You may train an apprentice in any perk without restriction, so long as you possess the perk in question and the apprentice meets its requirements.[/ul]
4. In rare situations, abilities may be taught to apprentices even if you do not possess them yourself. The predominant occurrence of this situation is teaching them physical abilities such as Climb, Listen, or the Endurance perk. To teach an apprentice an ability without possessing it yourself, you must engineer a circumstance that allows them to learn the ability by experience. Only physical abilities may be taught in this fashion. If you wish to train an apprentice in this manner but are unsure if the ability qualifies for "learning by doing", consult a member of the Leadership.
5. You may not train characters who have passed their Knight trials. Deuteragonists are also ineligible for training.
6. If you wish to adopt a more traditional Master/Apprentice model with an apprentice, you may do so so long as they consent. You may not prevent an apprentice from receiving training from other players if requested by the apprentice.
7. When training an apprentice in any Force Power for the first time, you receive an additional rank in that Power (so long as your base rank is below 3).
Note that 'training' in all above contexts specifically refers to the practice of free Ranks being earned through a training scenario. A scenario in which one character teaching another is roleplayed out but the increase in Ranks comes from points that were earned through a Mission, leveling up, etc. is not governed by the above rules.
