I have just finished adding the basic character creation threads in guidelines and you might well notice that there have been some big changes. I'm too pooped to pop at the moment so I will edit in a convenient list here at later time explaining the changes. However, the old versions of the threads are still up on the old site, so the entrepreneurial amongst you have the option of comparing and contrasting for yourselves. These are the last big changes (aside from an upcoming facelift for the Sith Acolyte Advance Path) that we'll be doing to the character system for a very long time, barring unforeseen circumstances.
And here is the promised edit. I'll go point by point through the bio creation process and explain what has been changed:
1. Core Stats: For once we changed the system without even touching Core Stats. Fancy that.
2. Species: Big changes here. Species no longer impose any penalties on Core Stats, they only grant bonuses. We also updated and refined a lot of the Special Advantages/Disadvantages. No matter what species you are playing, I can assure you that it has been altered.
3. Basic Paths: All the Basic Paths have gotten new intros and two new abilities. The Dark Force Adept's Force Weapon ability now allows for dual-wielding. Lightsaber Training now gives a Rank in Craft (lightsaber) for free.
4. Combat Proficiencies: Only notable change here is that your Ranks Craft (lightsaber) Skill now governs how many major modifications you can make to your saber.
5. Skills: By *far* this is the section that underwent the most changes. Balance and Tumble have been combined into Acrobatics. Astrogate has been expanded and refined. Climb, Jump and Swim have been combined into Athletics. Listen, Search and Spot have been combined into Awareness. Sleight of Hand and Escape Artist have been combined into Legerdemain. Demolitions and Disable Device have been combined into Sabotage. Hide and Move Silently have been combined into Stealth. Appraise has been turned into Haggle and does more than it used to. But the biggest change is the addition of Skill Specializations; special benefits granted to individuals with 3 or more total Ranks in a Skill.
6. Perks: Most of the Perks which enhance Skils have been altered or replaced. There is also a new Skill Focus Perk.
7. Backgrounds: Same as they ever were, though we're thinking about changing the name to avoid confusion with the backstory section of the bios.
8. Force Powers: Unchanged.
Advanced Paths and Master Paths have only been altered where necessary to reflect the above changes. Don't worry about updating your bios for the moment, we'll be doing an organized push to get everyone up-to-date with the changes soon. For the moment just do a little checking into the Guidelines threads here at your leisure to get a closer look at the new rules.
