Brief History. . .
For 5000 years the Xathrid Empire had been the most powerful nation on the continent.
300 years ago the Ethereal Kyng wiped out the majority of the Xathrid Empire because they were spreading their camps throughout the Inkaran Empire, where they did not belong. The Xathrid Empire was entirely made of humans while the Inkara was a mix of races.
(I will be adding details of history in parenthesis as I go one because the backstory for this world is 11 pages and is not completed. Also I’ll write this from Susan’s point of view, my first character)
Present Day and the Start of the Campaign.
Susan Blue, the young Changeling witch, awoke in the room she shared with her fellow companion, Freack the Hopeful. The incredibly strong Dwarf-Orc was snoring away still. Susan decided to head out and smell the fresh sea air of Sandfall. She thought about how she had ended up in the decimated Xathrid Empire. Pointing out mistakes in higher officer’s was probably not her and Freack’s greatest plans. So they were cast out of the Silver Legion and sent to the Xathrid Empire in search of some unnamed goal. All they knew is that they would know what it was when they found it.
Outside, the air was thick with fog. Out of the fog a rock flew and hit Susan on her her shoulder. Leaving no damage because of her Ethereal weaved cloak, which is unbreakable. Susan Blue wondered in the direction from which the stone had come from only to find a young human girl clenching a makeshift slingshot. Susan attempted to say good morning to the teen but the girl raised the slingshot and fired another stone at Susan, this one struck her in the face. At this point Susan was pissed and grabbed the kid and was about to kill her with her claws when Freack came through the fog and began to talk Susan out of it. Eventually Susan let go of the human girl, who then ran off into the fog.
Freack and Susan bicker all the way back to the Inn; however, when the arrive on the doorstep the door is locked and the sign has been switched to closed. Freack, and his giant muscles, knocked on the door. The innkeeeper came scambling to the door yelling about how she wasnt prepared. Susan inquires for as to what is it that she’s not prepared for and Freack threatens to break down the door in his booming voice. Of course all this ruckus has drawn a crowd around the two Ethereal Knights (Ethereal Knights were responsible for the eradication of the human race and this happens to a be a human town. Although, it was the Silver Legion that did all the killing.)
Susan turns to the crowd and notices the girl she encountered just a few minutes ago in the crowd. The girl is holding a bloodied knife, one caked with blood actually. The knife looks to be enchanted as well. The girl also has a sickening smile. Susan heres a crash and turns to find that Freack has busted a hole into the side of the building, there is also a kid inside the building with a large Golden Eagle on his shoulder. Where he came from she has no clue but turns back to the girl who’s eyes are turning a bright blue. Inside the building are blue runes, she believes that they are protection spells. Putting two and two together Susan realizes that this particular shade of blue is not harmful. . . Well she guesses that. The innkeeper is running around and building a fort of sorts in front of a locked door that has more runes than anywhere else.
Susan walks from away from the group and heads towards tha crowd of human and the girl. As soon as she reaches the girl she back-hands her, for a brief moment her eye color goes back to normal but is quickly replaced with the blue and a hint of green. Susan runs back to the group and tells them that green is bad and blue is good. Freack says something about how much he hates magic and the kid just nods. They search the building for anything of interest, Susan finds a room of tin boxes and notes. She takes two boxes and as much notes as she can carry.
When the party finishes that they agree on getting the heck outta Dodge and flee the town. As they go passed the girl her eyes are almost entirely green. Once outside of the town Susan and the kid turn back to see the innkeeeper and the girl shooting bolts of energy at each other. The girl’s is green and the innkeeper’s is blue. Then they see a flash of green that engulfs the town and the blue dies out. When the light fades the town is gone except for the inn.
Outside the town the trio find themselves alone. The hear other fleeing townsfolk off in the woods, mainly by their screams as monsters kill and capture them. The party hears some rustling in the tall grass beside them…
To be continued. . . When I get the motivation to write the next session. FYI: I may be missing small details because this all started at the beginning of the summer, but as I catch up we should be good.
