Empires rise and civilizations fall, wars destroy worlds and species, Jedi and Sith grind each other to dust but, through it all, the Corporate Sector persists. Sitting on the edges of civilized space, the Corporate Sector Authority rules their plutocratic fiefdom with absolute authority. An early product of the Old Republic's decadence, ever since the CS' establishment it has profited when others have fought. Unlike the other Galactic Guilds, the CSA did not join with the Separatists during the Clone Wars, instead multiplying their wealth through both sides. Perhaps Palpatine appreciated their mirroring of his own schemes, for the Corporate Sector was left largely unmolested by the Empire. This in turn had allowed the Authority to also deal with the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. During the Vong War the Corporate Sector's remoteness kept it out harm's way and attracted those seeking refuge (those who could afford it, anyway). While many peoples had learned to bemoan the near-constant state of war the Galaxy had suffered since the Pax Republica's end, the present era of massive death and disorder had been good to the Corporate Sector and its Authority.
And the present conflict was no exception. The Corporate Sector was one of the few places where people from opposite sides of the war could meet safely. And it was only here that one (if correctly connected) could charter a direct flight to New Bethrezen from outside Union space. While Darth Exolus had no need to charter ships, this nature as neutral space was what brought him to the capital planet of Etti IV. His luxurious yet inconspicuous transport landed in the planet's prime city of Mondder's Spaceport. The specialized identifications purchased by Unionists from a covert arm of the Authority transmitting an approved false registry.
It was not far from the spaceport to the Amply Curved Lekku, an upscale cantina favored for clandestine meetings. Exolus had some time ago begun leasing a private room in the Lekku for the express purpose of meeting the individual he would be seeing now. But it was not the Sith Lord who had called this liaison but his associate, and had done so in a seemingly panicked fashion. Upon entering the room, Exolus saw that Grand Moff Quille had already arrived.
Quille was the last Grand Moff not retired or dead in the Imperial Remnant. He had been Gilad Pellaeon's staunchest political opponent during the legendary admiral's stint as Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet. It was primarily through Quille's continued blocking of anyone else taking it, and through his repeated failures to be elected by the Moff Council himself, that the office of Supreme Commander had remained vacant since Pellaeon retired from it. This was why Exolus had first chosen to approach Quille. The Grand Moff was powerful enough to be useful but not so powerful that he could achieve his desires without Sith aid. In short, the perfect puppet.
But the Grand Moff hardly seemed his icy, arrogant self. Quille had always been high-strung but he looked a wreck in that moment. He was pacing the room, glass of liquor clenched tightly in one hand and a datapad held only slightly less vigorously in the other. Exolus noticed one of the bottles he kept here out on the table and nearly empty.
