Dragon's Talon exited hyperspace opposite the local sun of Gyuel from Qoribu to hide its approach. The escort carrier skirted as close to that star as radiation and heat shielding allowed. This plan was a risky one but it was also the only way for Ares to bring the minimum number of marines he required for this infiltration while still standing a chance of slipping in undetected. Killiks had not yet been observed to possess particularly advanced sensor technology and the Sith Warlord hoped that this disadvantage, along with their mass departures for Chiss space, would work in his favor. His ultimate goal was the ice-covered moon of Kr, which he had seen in his vision on Tenupe. The Talon carried aboard, along with the marines, a full compliment of TIE Hunters in its hangars. If discovered by Killiks, this compliment would hardly allow the Talon to fight off the insects' rocket fighters indefinitely but it would at least ensure cover for an escape if things came to that.
On the carrier's bridge, Darth Ares, his Apprentice and the assigned crewmen watched as they crawled closer to Qoribu behind every piece of cover available. As the ship advanced the Killik fleets came into sight. First to be seen were the massive carrier ships. Their Star Destroyer dwarfing size, however, belied their vulnerability. Killik technology was primitive and the massive ship had no weaponry, all its power needed for propulsion and hyperspace jumps. Instead, the true threat lay in what these hive ships carried: swarms of rocket fighters, chitinous legions of Killiks and larders full of the supplies they needed to invade. Becoming more clear as the Talon proceeded were these bulbous vessels' escorts. Here was was the mysterious fleet reminiscent of the old Rebel Alliance's favored dispositions. Who manned this fleet and where it came from were unknown but each convoy of hive ships that periodically departed after being loaded full was accompanied by some of this fleet's ships. Ares hoped their more advanced sensors would not ruin his plan.
Dragon's Talon arced down into the upper atmosphere of Qoribu as it drew near the Killik orbital presence, masking itself in the gas giant's colorful vapors. In time the vessel came near a point were it would risk the least amount of exposure approaching Kr.
"Ready to proceed at your command, sir," the Talon's captain said to Ares.
