When a character in a Starting Class reaches level 7, they may begin taking levels in a Prestige Class. Prestige Classes are highly-specialised occupations that offer unique abilities and powers. A character with a Prestige Class is generally more specialized, yet perhaps slightly more powerful, than a character without one.
Unlike characters on a Path, characters may take levels in any of the Prestige Classes they have available to them, or continue taking levels in their Starting Class. A character's overall 'Heroic Level' is the sum of their levels in their Starting Class and any Prestige Classes, and is used to determine how much XP they require to level up; unless the term 'Heroic Level' is explicitly used, 'level' within a Prestige Class' ability description refers to the number of levels a character has in that Prestige Class. How much HP a character receives on a level up is also determined by what Starting Class or Prestige Class they choose to level up in.
On entering your first Prestige Class, you receive a bonus to your Saves corresponding to that Prestige Class' unique talents. Choose your Prestige Class(es) wisely, as their abilities increase in potency with level.
The Prestige Classes you may take levels in are determined by your Starting Class. These are presented below by alphabetised list, Class Exit (which Starting Class can take which Prestige Class), and Class Entry (which Prestige Class can be taken by which Starting Class).
