Most of you that are already on here are well into or have finished character creation, which is great to see. We're putting together the opening roleplay hook now, and we'll start worrying about advertising and sending out emails to try and hook people back in soon.
Partly as an 'in the meantime' thing but also as invaluable practice, there's something else I'd like everyone to do. As experience for everyone both in running roleplay stuff and in playing it under the new system, I want everyone to be a part of a series of one-off roleplay combat encounters in the Unofficial system.
Here is how this is going to work. I'd like to request that everybody run at least one of these encounters. I want everybody on board for three reasons: 1) to cast as wide a net for feedback as possible, 2) so that everyone knows the system from both sides of the screen, and 3) because a major aspect of this site compared to 1.0 is that everybody is able to and is encouraged to run roleplay events, and I want our first instance of roleplay to reflect that (even if it's non-canon).
Everybody else is going to participate as a player in at least one of these, with at least two players for each encounter. There can be more, and you can run more than one or something longer if you want, but I'd like the minimum to be two players in a combat encounter. I'd like everyone to design their own - it can be something as simple as two level 9 characters facing CL 9 enemies on an open plain or a level 10 and a level 13 facing a squad of CL 3 enemies in a dimly lit factory filled with smoke and constantly shifting terrain. Don't hesitate to ask around if you need help puzzling stuff out.
Instead of worrying about character sheets we're going to use one of the major advantages of the SWSE RPG system we've adopted, which is the presence of a dozen splatbooks with assorted resources. In this case, the use of pre-made Nonheroic Units for the players (as well as the enemies) - here is a list of Jedi units to spark your imaginations, but there are many others all available on that wiki as well as enemy stats.
The stats for vanilla SWSE are pretty much compatible with our own - for easiness' sake, wherever there's discrepancy with Force Powers and Skills and the like, use whatever is on the pre-made unit (everything on those pregenned units is linked so you won't need to go hunting for explanations). As an aside, they all use a "Base Attack Bonus" which in our system has been replaced by the "Rank * Proficiency Modifier" bonus.
This doesn't need to happen urgently, but I'd like people to start on it when it's convenient for them. It's also something I'd like to keep going in the future for all new members. I'd like two volunteers for the encounter that I will run.
