Age: 26
Species: Human
Homeworld: Corellia
Gender: Male
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 154 lbs
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Dark brown
Skin Color: White
Appearance:Tall and slight of build, with a youthful visage that would border on babyfaced if not for the carefully groomed facial hair along his jawline and goatee, Vaeros carries himself with confidence and purpose. His eyes are a bright, icy blue, and stark white rings around his pupils make for a striking, downright captivating gaze. His dark brown hair is kept short and neatly maintained. Favoured attire includes hard-wearing boots and long, comfortable overcoats with an abundance of pockets.
Personality:Publicly, Vaeros is a consummate academic, driven through every waking moment (and most dreaming ones) by a dozen different hungry curiosities. Many of these come and go, in the fields of astrophysics, engineering, and computing, but he has always carried an abiding passion for history and archaeology which is the focus of his unending drive to learn. Beneath the surface, however, Vaeros hides a proud, spiteful jealousy born of a lifetime spent guarding his achievements from the underhanded predations of envious peers. To his mind, he is merely protecting the fruits of his academic labours, but this instinct often manifests in sharp-tongued and short-tempered barbs against anyone he perceives to be attempting to undermine him.
Demeanour: Celebrant
Nature: CompetitorGoal:- [Minor] Continually seek out new knowledge of the Force – acquire three Ranks in any Force Power- [Major] Slay (or at least ruin the life of) Derrick Thane, a former fellow student of the Corellia University who once attempted to kill Vaeros and plagiarise his discoveries on an archaeological expedition on CorulagLanguages:

- Binary: understands
Backstory:Born in Coronet City, the capital of Corellia, Vaeros Kasto is the only child of property mogul Dal and teacher Maera. From a young age, Vaeros displayed an insatiable curiosity, and an intuition quite beyond his years. It did not take him long to discover his love of history - not merely the forgotten stories of the past, but the work of the archaeologists and researchers who brought those stories to light.
His love for history led him in his teenage years to Corellia University, where he had the opportunity to study archaeology at a higher level. From the outset, he distinguished himself as a born academic, keen-eyed and possessed of a talent for research. Thus, from the outset, he found himself surrounded by envious lessers. One in particular was all too quick to foster resentment for Vaeros' presence - Derrick Thane, an entitled, self-important little bully of a boy who seemed convinced that the fact that he was the son of a celebrated University financier set him apart from the class.
Months and years passed, and every success Vaeros worked for seemed to breed even greater contempt in Derrick, who eventually promoted himself from slinging idle insults to actually attempting to sabotage Vaeros' projects. Vaeros learned to shrug him off and continue, secure in the knowledge that his accomplishments would speak for themselves far more loudly than some jealous brat could speak against him - not least because reporting him to the school's authorities never seemed to get anywhere, no thanks to the influence of Derrick's father. Towards the end of the course, however, with graduation in sight, Vaeros' failure to take his self-proclaimed rival seriously would nearly cost him his life.
The class' final practical project was a journey to the world of Corulag to assist a University-sponsored survey already in progress, examining the recently unearthed ruins of an auspicious fortress, built into a valley which appeared to have suffered a landslide in its past. The students followed behind probes which were mapping the labyrinthine building, studying their surroundings more carefully to see what information they could glean about the fortress, its inhabitants, and what befell them.
Somewhere deep in the complex, Vaeros could swear he felt a presence calling to him. He diverted from his probe, his feet following a path he himself did not know through twisting corridors and down worn steps. He emerged in a cavernous hall, where at the center, a podium - or perhaps it was more accurate to call it an altar - jutted over a circular pit whose bottom Vaeros could not see. Sitting upon the altar was a simple pendant of blue gemstone upon a silver chain. It called to the man - it beckoned him to lay his hands upon it, as if it would reveal some great secret. He knew, somehow, that this was meant for him. He could not hand it over as part of his findings, and so he chose to hide it, putting it on beneath his tunic.
Just in time to keep Derrick from laying eyes on it. It appeared the bully had gone looking for his rival, and he too without his survey probe. Silent and purposeful was Derrick's approach, creeping up to the altar while Vaeros was engrossed in the wonder of what other secrets he may discover here. It was not any sound that gave Derrick away, but a feeling in the back of Vaeros' very mind - a sense of violent intent approaching, and a tingling in the neck that precursored a mental voice screaming danger.
Perhaps it was the way he braced and turned at the very last moment that saved his life, but when Derrick wordlessly shoved him off the precarious altar to plunge down the pit, a fall that should have been fatal was broken by a platform in the darkness that likewise jutted into the pit. Vaeros broke his left arm in the landing, but he was alive, and just sensible enough to bite back the shriek of pain that threatened to give him away. While Derrick fled to give the tragic news that Vaeros had slipped and fell, Vaeros gathered himself and set to following the corridors in which he had found himself. Though he had no idea how much time had passed, these corridors ultimately led to salvation; a route to the outside, revealed by the landslide which had swallowed the fortress so long ago.
Reports of Vaeros' death, as it turned out, were greatly exaggerated. His classmates exulted to see him alive, but while Vaeros quietly relished the horror that came upon Derrick's face when he saw him, he did not reveal to anyone the truth of what had happened. Derrick's connections had protected him from the consequences of his actions for years; no one would believe such wild accusations as Vaeros would make, even if they were true. He rejoined the camp quietly, looking shaken and terrified. Perhaps Derrick would be satisfied that Vaeros was now too afraid of him to even try to say anything. Vaeros was happy to let him think that - he had already decided that he would make Derrick suffer for what he had tried to do.
The University offered a graciously accepted extension on Vaeros' writing deadlines, which he took advantage of to finish his studies. Imagine that - not even a brush with death could stop him securing his place as the class' star student. He graduated with flying colours to much celebration, especially from his father, who had prepared a grand gift in the confidence that his son couldn't fail to distinguish himself; a refurbished YT-2000 freighter, astromech droid, and BARC speeder, all for his own! Long had they discussed Vaeros' aspirations, and they did not see him remaining on Corellia for long. Vaeros wished to join the archaeological community at large, and set out across the galaxy to make his name as the field's next great academic.
However, now even that could wait. Before he could begin his career in earnest, Vaeros had to learn more about this pendant, and the strange feelings that had led him to it. These were the greatest mysteries of all, and he would not rest until he had solved them.

Shrewd investment in properties in the planetary capital Coronet and the tourist resort city of Kor Vella have grown the success of the business, such that the children of the family will hardly want for anything.- Artifact 1 (Sense Force) - A small, unassuming pendant, comprising a silver chain and base into which is set a deep blue gemstone, an inch in diameter, of unknown origin. Vaeros discovered this pendant on an archaeological survey, early in his University studies, and kept it for himself rather than submit it among his findings, convinced that he felt it somehow calling to him...Perks:- Danger Sense (granted by Force-Sensitive)- Force-Sensitive (free at creation)- Sharp-Eyed (purchased at creation)Force Powers:- Sense--- Force Empathy 1Vehicle Funds:

Material Resources:- CEC YT-2000 light freighter (used, 45,000 credits) - A gift to Vaeros from his father for his graduation from Corellia University, this freighter has undergone certain modifications and preparations to make it ready for the young man to take ownership.--- R3-series Astromech Droid R3-T4 "Arty" (new, 10,000 credits) - A fantastic find of military surplus, this astromech was memory-wiped and reprogrammed to serve as a copilot and mechanic for the ship. It shares Vaeros' inquisitive nature, but is perhaps a little too happy to greet perceived trouble with its electroshock probe.--- Systems upgrades - The majority of the work that was put into the ship was to improve its onboard computers. New suites of navigation, telemetry, and avionics systems, and fire-linked management of the quad laser turrets, combine to enable Vaeros - or even his astromech - to pilot the ship alone if need be.- Aratech BARC Speeder (new, 8,300 credits) - Folded into Vaeros' graduation gift, this article of Clone Wars military surplus is stock, but has had no prior owners. It comes with a detachable sidecar.
