Backstory:
Greer Fedelmind, a young Muun who hails from what was once a respectable Muunilinst clan, purposely failed his societies assigned tests that determine social status. Before his failure it had been predicted that he would score well and propel his already wealthy and powerful family to even higher positions within the Galactic standard banking system. His father had pushed him very hard and had spared no expense in training him as a brilliant politician and banker as well as strategic thought. While the lessons and observations about the battle field were intended to give him advantages in the business world, they had instead awakened a hunger for war within him. His lessons in politics had been intended to make him savy to the machinations at play within the financial construct that his race is famous for controlling, but they too had only served to give him dreams of blood and gore made possible on a grand scale by his seizing control of the political machine so many foolishly placed their lives, money, and most importantly their hope in. His banking lessons had achieved their intended purpose, they had taught him the power and responsibility of currency, but he had noticed early on that the power and influence of that currency was not at all anything to do with actual value, but more in an idea of value. He had compiled these lessons into a philosophy and dream that he could one day rule his race and by proxy the entire galaxy though his manipulation of their system.
He Failed.
At the age of 11 after more than 5 years of plotting and scheming Greer told his father of his ideas. His father gawked at the "arrogance" of his son and chastised him for daring to assume he could be greater than the whole of his race. "It is known across the galaxy that we are a race rife with greed son, but this is too much. We must work within the system to rise to power, but then if we achieve that power we must become the system in order to maintain it, not arrogantly attempt to replace the system with your own will. It would surely fail. I have worked and slaved away to get us this far and I will not have you ruin the Family name by attempting and surely failing to disturb what has made us so wealthy. Now on with your lessons and no more of this foolish manic dreams of power" his father had spoken these words sarcastically and derivatively and as each new word came forward so did more and more rage, until like a bag too full with water small holes began to develop in the fabric of Greers very being. He felt surges, first in random parts of his body, then all over, his rage and hatred for the society in which he had been born, for the lack of understanding his father had shown, for things he could not even place began swelling and growing inside of him and he struck his father down without saying a word. Later in a holovid shown to him by his brothers, he noticed that his fae had betrayed no emotion, and his killing blow had been a single and brutally fast thing that began and ended with his typical relaxed body posture. In his society murder was still a crime, but the murder was less detrimental to his family name than the fallout had the public found out and the family reputation had suffered so Greers brothers covered the whole thing up mostly out of greed. The estate was split to his family and his share placed in holding until his 13th birthday when he would earn it by passing his test and gaining his family some better standing in the society.
The years between the murder were filled with Greers hatred and passion fueling his schemes. He reasoned that his family had too much power, and too much money and that despite his efforts his brothers would always be strong enough or connected enough to thwart his plots for power. After a few years of thinking on this subject Greer had become withdrawn and often lost in thought. His foolish brothers had assumed this was due to feelings of guilt or shame. The truth of the matter was that Greer was building his plot in his mind. In order to gain his power and influence he must never become a part of their system as his father had wished... his father had been wise and correct in saying that the only way to gain power from within was to work with and then become the system. Greers family was too entrenched in it to effectively control it, so when the time came to take his test Greer did not only fail it, he failed it so terribly that the administrators had no choice but to drop Greer out of any responsibility to or within their society. Obviously his brothers maintained their responsibilities but the Family name of Fedelmind would drop lower than it had been when it was first given to Greers ancestors.
His intention had been to destroy his Family Name but the concept of being completely banned from his home world and cast completely out of his society had not been explained to him, as no one had anticipated such a massive failure from one so promising. Though a certain peace was granted him by the idea that his plot had been successful in its intent he was further enraged by the unintended consequences. For the first time since murdering his father Greer again felt the unexplained surges of energy and hatred take hold of him as his family scolded and shunned him at the star port on the day of his exile, this time he embraced and in his minds eye the pool of hatred and anger and pain became a thing which he drank from and became a part of. His vision faded slowly back to him and the entire star port lay in ruin, all his family lay dead at his feet as did every other worker in the star port...
Greer Smirked and mumbled a few of his fathers last words to himself " No more of these foolish, manic dreams of power" and he pulled what was left of his clans battle armor that his brother had worn as a symbol for the history that Greer had tarnished in order to shame him.
Greer drifted through the outer rim worlds for several years, consistently searching for and hungering for that pool from which to drink but never finding it again, at least not in full. It was something he became aware of, as one would hope when placing a bet or taking a chance shot in battle. He learned the ways of the Outer rim, often finding ways to survive by manipulating those around him and pulling little strings to enact larger actions. He sold and bought information like it was a currency and he perfected the art of converstaion though it pained him to do so and he avoided it whenever possible. For years he lived in his head focusing on how he would one day destroy his people and their greedy system and society and meditating daily to find that power within himself.
On the eve of his 18th birthday he ran into a Jedi who recognized him as "Force Sensitive" but mentioned how he was already too old to be trained. The Jedi had not intended to tell Greer of course, but as was his habit Greer had been eavesdropping in the hopes of gaining information to sale. Greer tailed the Jedi until he felt safe confronting him, alone on some backwater outer rim world. The Jedi knew that Greer had followed him and surprised Greer by turning around before Greer pulled out his Blaster all the way. The quickness and prepardeness of the Jedi startled Greer and he dropped the blaster. The Jedi asked him why he had followed him and what his intention had been with the blaster, Greer, still shocked that he had dropped his blaster (something he had never done before) took a moment to collect himself before asking what exactly he meant by "force sensitive". THe Jedi gave a typical Jedi Explination of the force being the Light that connects all living things... blah blah etc. etc.
Greer heard little of what the Jedi said outside of "Connects all living things" at the moment the Jedi said this Greer again saw the well which he longed so much to drink from, it was still beyond his grasp but he could see it. He saw its form, a cloud of nothing, a void. The void was the collective nothingness inside all living things, it was disappointment incarnate, it was rage, and hate and anger and it beckoned to Greer like a mother calling her child home. He wanted nothing more than to embrace it here and now, but the Jedi interrupted his thoughts.
"I am afraid it is too late for you to be safely trained in the ways of the Jedi but I sense you have a strong connection to the force. I am afraid we must nullify this before it can manifest itself in things you can not understand." said the Jedi.
"Things like what?" Greer said distractedly while lingering on the vision of that pool.
"Things like the Dark Side" the Jedi sail ominouly.
"And what is the dark side?"
"The dark side leads to fear. Fear leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering, the Dark side will fill you with anger and hatred until it has corrupted you and all you love beyond recognition." Said the Jedi.
"Well thats all I could ever hope for" Greer smirked as he felt that rush once again, only this time when he embraced and drank from it, it embraced and drank from him and he was in full control, his power was emence and before he knew it he had the Jedi against a wall and weaponless. Though he felt as if he could have done so much more he simply coked that Jedi with his own hands until the life drained from his eyes, and when it did Greer expected the power to leave him, and though it did fade significantly this time it did not leave...
Greer had become a part of that void and he reveled in it.
