The fleet which Darth Exolus had assembled over the skies of Codia was very possibly larger, both in total physical area and in populace, than all the settlements on the world below. Codia (or more accurately, it's sole populated moon) had never been significant in the Galaxy for the most part. But now, for no other reason than the allegiance it had chosen, it found itself the focus of a key Galactic Alliance assault, which Exolus had arrived to deflect. When he'd chosen this place to house his special military installations, the Warlord had been convinced its remoteness made it ideal to keep from the GA's notice. That notion was now obviously mistaken and he found himself as the isolated bastion of Unionism's primary protector. Though the residents had offered their ragtag, volunteer flotilla of armed freighters and repurposed pirate ships, it was the Salvation and her accompanying SICON vessels which formed the majority of the bulwark surrounding Codia and her moon.
From the bridge of that same said Mandator III Dreadnought, Darth Exolus surveyed a frontier that at this point seemed empty but he knew would soon fill with enemy ships. With him aboard the vessel were Cameron Krill and Darth Tetrarch, chosen for their abilities as pilots. On the ground waited Ceryn and Aiden Dom, prepared to help deflect any attempt at ground invasion. Suddenly a beep emerged from one of the bridge's console panels and, before an ensign announced its meaning, Exolus knew. The small group he had dispatched to lead off a portion of the incoming GA invasion fleet was reporting initial success but also that soon those GA ships which did not break off would soon make their move.
All fleet preparations were completed when the main enemy force at last arrived at Codia. Examining the fleet, Exolus determined it to be a starfighter-doctrine variety; it's six Endurance-class Fleet Carriers supported by an economical picket line of gunships. More, perhaps even most, of its smaller capital ships must have been drawn off pursuing Exolus' catspaw flotilla. The GA fleet positioned itself out of the Salvation's range and begun to disgorge its swarms of starfighters. A searing second of silence fell over the Union Dreadnought's bridge before Exolus confidently began to pronounce battle orders.
